Play Time is Over

Ok, seems I’ve been lying to you. I didn’t know it, and I didn’t mean to, but it seems I have. Let me explain…

So anyway, with the lacklustre results I achieved there, and in other trainings I’ve done, I had an opinion (it’s probably still right though) that the level of skill in our industry is quite low.

With low barriers to entry, I mean it’s a one week course in most states with an Open book assignment at the end. It’s a two week course, with a written and a practical exam to be a cab driver in NSW and WA.

So the fact is, with the average earnings of a real estate agent being less than $50,000 a year, depending on whose stats you read, we, on a whole, aren’t well paid. And the fact that people using my training have consistently earned $100,000+ then my quote for years has been something like….(and cover your ears if you don’t like profanity….)

‘If everyone else you’re up against is crap, then all you have to do is be crap PLUS 20% and you’ll be fine !!’

Well I’m going to reneg on that statement. I’ve had a few people saying it’s getting tougher out there to get full fees, clients requesting they match cost cutters, not wanting to invest in adequate marketing because competitors are offering it for free, etc etc.

Well no longer am I willing to allow you guys to settle for mediocre results (unless of course, that’s what you want, and that’s up to you…)

When my team was listing and selling, and at the top of our game, we were like a tank. We would go out there with sheer weight of activity and demolish our competitors. I remember a very high profile agent, award winning team, had a bunch of his salespeople whining to him about us getting all the listings. His reply ‘What are they doing that you aren’t?’ and they went on about us making cold calls and he was using us as an example of being ‘there’ as opposed to being ‘good.’

Now I’m not teaching you to be ‘bad’ but I’m saying it’s more important to be ‘there’ than ‘good.’
